About Inventing Indices
Inventing Indices develops rules-based financial indices for investors who want disciplined, transparent exposure to well-defined market ideas.
Each methodology starts with traditional financial theory, measurable public-company data, and a repeatable construction process. Where useful, AI language models augment that process by extracting evidence from filings, evaluating qualitative risk, and helping convert disclosure-heavy questions into standardized inputs.
The Inventing Quality Index is the first live index in the Inventing Indices family. Additional index methodologies are in development across other financial exposures, with the same emphasis on clear rules, documented data, and governed use of model-assisted analysis.
The five Size Indices have been calculated daily since June 30, 2026.
Inventing IntelligenceBeta — In Development
Purpose-built models, trained on what we actually do.
Most AI-assisted research runs on rented, general-purpose models — capable, but generic, and subject to change without notice under the products built on them. Inventing Indices is taking a different path: we are developing a family of proprietary language models, tuned specifically for the work our index and research platform does every day.
Solene is our in-house writing model: a 27-billion-parameter open-weights language model (Qwen) fine-tuned on Inventing Indices’ own editorial output. It writes the earnings briefs on The Tip Desk — reading a company’s filing and results, finding the story, and producing a short, sourced brief in our house style. Solene runs on our own hardware, so the desk does not depend on a rented model that can change underneath it.
Solene is trained against a curated corpus of briefs the desk has published and reviewed, including a hand-adjudicated set of the hardest cases — the ones where frontier models disagree on what the numbers mean. Every version is pinned, scored against a frozen evaluation suite, and promoted only when it measurably outperforms its predecessor: a versioned, auditable asset rather than an opaque dependency.
Why build our own? Control and accountability. A research desk’s voice and fact discipline should not drift because a third-party model was updated overnight.
Scope: Solene writes for The Tip Desk. The company’s indices are not produced by Solene; they follow their published methodologies, and the AI-assisted steps in those methodologies use separately pinned models documented there.
Disclaimer
The Inventing Quality Index (the “Index”) is a rules-based, systematic equity index. Index returns, where shown, are calculated on a total-return basis assuming reinvestment of dividends. Index returns do not reflect fees, expenses, brokerage commissions, or transaction costs that would apply to an actual investment.
Past performance — whether official, live-observed shadow, or simulated — is not a guarantee or reliable indicator of future results. There are frequently material differences between simulated performance and actual results achieved by any investment strategy.
It is not possible to invest directly in an index. Index performance does not represent the performance of any investment product or account.
